The program is open to boys who are Hopkinton residents and are in grades 1st through 8th, (the Girl's Lacrosse program of Hopkinton is a separate organization).  The program is built around participation in the Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League or "MBYLL" (www.mbyll.org).

What are the age groups?  There are four age groups: U9 - Grades 1 & 2; U11 - Grades 3 & 4; U13 - Grades 5 & 6; U15 - Grades 7 & 8.

What is the Winter Skills Program:  This is a one night per week, seven week program that goes from January and February. This program focuses on giving boys of all ages 1st grade – 4th grade a chance to continue to develop their skills during the winter months. This program is run at Forekicks in Marlborough and requires a separate registration from the spring season and Registration for this is in November. This program is not required for participation in the spring league, however, it is strongly recommend for new or developing players to help get them prepared for the spring season.

Winter Training Single Sessions: New this year! We will be offering a set of winter training single sessions in Jan/Feb to help give all players some additional opportunities before the season starts. The registration for these is not open so please check back in later November/December for more details.

When is the regular season?  Registration takes place in November so that our players can participate in pre-season indoor training and skill sessions before the spring and so that Hoplax board can register the appropriate number of teams with our league .  Hoplax indoor pre-season sessions begin in March.  Outdoor practices generally start in late March/early April.  Actual games generally begin by the first week of April and run through early June.  Please note that there are often games during both of the school vacation weekends.

Who do we play?  All of our teams are "travel teams" in that we play other towns both home and away.  The opponents are generally close in proximity to Hopkinton.

My son has never played lacrosse before ... is it too late for him to start?  No.  Every year we have first time players in every grade from 1st through 8th.  If your son would like to give lacrosse a try, he should.

When are the practices?  There are one to two practices per week for all age groups. Practices are usually held in the late afternoon or evening hours during the week.

Can my son play spring baseball or soccer and play lacrosse as well? Yes. We have many players, especially at the younger age levels,  that play multiple sports in the spring. There will be conflicts that need to be managed but we believe that with open communication between coach and families, the vast majority of these conflicts can be worked through.

When are the games?  MBYLL games are played on Sundays.  Start times range from 9am to 6pm. Teams may also play a few weeknight games throughout the season.
